Named for the iconic Melbourne neon sign, acoustic pop four-piece Skipping Girl Vinegar could well be on their way to becoming local icons themselves. The upcoming month will be crucial in cementing this potential, as the band will be kept very busy with a dual Melbourne-Sydney interstate residency in support of the release of “Sinking”, the third single from their debut album, Sift The Noise.
The buzz has been building with a vengeance around SGV, being championed by Triple J and having Rage name every one of their video releases the clip of the week – including Sinking. This new single sticks to their versatile formula – catchy, upbeat acoustic flavoured pop, with bluesy influences and lyrically layered content.
The talented four-piece is comprised of brother/sister team Mark and Sare Lang, along with childhood chums Chris Helm and Amanthi Lynch. They have rapidly achieved a charmed level of critical and commerical success over the past two years, however have chosen to remain steadfastly committed to their independent roots, spurning major label contracts in favour of releasing Sift The Noise through their own label. The band will be exposed to an even broader audience when they play the Pyramid Rock Festival on Phillip Island over New Years Eve.
