Orthodox Hasidic Jew and acclaimed reggae artist Matisyahu (real name Matthew Miller) is on
his way to Melbourne, playing one show at the Prince in St Kilda. The American’s distinctive combination of traditional Jewish lyrical themes and reggae hip hop musical influences result in anthemic, addictive songs like “King Without a Crown” and “Heights”.
Rolling Stone magazine have described Matisyahu’s performance as a “whirling dervish, twisting and turning, spinning circles around the stage in ecstasy and diving off the stage into the crowd”. The hypnotic New York MC’s live shows are notorious for their dynamism, and this is definitely one not to be missed.
Matisyahu is touring to support his new album, Light, which will be released on August 25th. First single “One Day” is available through iTunes now.
